It is concert festival season and you or your kids are super pumped about the lineup for Bonnaroo 2013. I thought I would give you some tips to survive this music odyssey.
- Bring dry soap. Be prepared not to really shower. They have open-air, zero privacy showers, with a hose running up and down a wall of an 18 wheeler container. Sure, you’re thinking well I could just shower in flip-flop and a bathing suit… and if EVERYONE followed that rule, it wouldn’t be a problem. Let me remind you the old adage is true, it’s never the people you would want to see in that situation its always the ones your don't.
- Don’t bring food. I would suggest bringing a case of bottle water and some snack foods to tie you over outside the venue. My friends and I thought it would be cool to cook out and safe money, which it didn't do either. The food on site is really good and not THAT over priced. Plus, cooking steaks at a packed campsite with young uninhibited youths with the “munchies”; well leads to less than desired company.
- Pack light. This is not a fashion show ladies, bathing suits are great for both sexes. If you are prone to getting cold the Tennessee night can get a little chilly, so maybe a windbreaker. Sun tan lotion and close toe shoes should round out your outfit something you don’t mind throwing away post concert.
- Don't sleep in your car. I don’t care how old you are, if you’re old enough to be going on this trip without a legal guardian, sleep in a tent. A simple pop tent and air mattress and you are set. If you can’t spring for an air mattress, the pool full body air beds work fine. You will also want earplugs for sound sleeping. The last performance is usually around 3am or 4 am and you might be next to loud all night partiers.
Follow these simple guidelines and keep an open mind. Above all enjoy yourself.
Send pictures of the concert to me at JOSH@KDMX.COM and I will post them on here.
