Last night, I had the privilege of seeing Taken 2 at a screening hosted by BigFanBoy.com. Without revealing too much, here are some things to note:
-Liam Neeson is bad A. Don't ever try to kidnap him.
-Pretty good plot for an action/thriller movie (no, it's not award winning or anything, but there was more substance than a Vin Diesel movie).
-Coolest gadget besides grenades is a tiny cell phone reminiscent of the one belonging to Derek Zoolander.
-Don't expect to see the best and most beautiful parts of Istanbul. This movie features the nitty gritty. It's not the travel channel. You're not going to learn about the rich history and culture. (This is an actual thing I had to point out to my wife.)
-The bad guys are REALLY bad so it was easy to cheer Liam on as he unleashed his wrath upon them.
-I learned good tips in case I am ever taken, but they all kind of hinge on a good memory, an A kicking ability and a teenage daughter that can run really fast so I probably won't be able to utilize them.
-It was difficult watching Famke Janssen not use telekinesis and yeah, I did kind of expect Wolverine to barge in, but Liam is a great second choice (even without metal claws and rippling muscles barely contained in a wife beater shirt).
All in all, Taken 2 is a fun, fast-paced movie where you don't have to think too hard about plot twists. Just sit back and enjoy all the A kicking.
