In Stephanie Meyer's Twilight universe, werewolves imprint on their soul mates. This means they fall deeply in love with their soul mates, form an unconditional bond with them upon first sight and age does not matter. [SPOILER ALERT: IN Breaking Dawn Part 1, Jacob, a teenage boy, imprints on Bella's new born baby. BTW, I'm really mad at myself for watching this movie.] Good thing this weird and awkward imprinting thing only happens in ridiculous tween vampire books, right?
WRONG! Today, I came across an article about Chinese pop singer Zhang Muyi. Zhang is 24 years old and his girlfriend is model Akama Miki. Seemed pretty normal until I read that Akama is 12 years old.
These Chinese stars have declared their love for each other all over their pages on Chinese social networking site Weibo in the form of mushy posts and photographs.
In one post, Zhang wishes Akama a Happy 12th Birthday, saying he will wait "four more years" until she's legal before pursuing a physical relationship with her.
The most disturbing part is that at the source of this article there is a poll posted that asks "Is it OK for this couple to be in a romantic relationship?" and 65% of voters said YES! What is wrong with people? I blame Twilight.
