I couldn't believe it when I first heard about these new"Foodie Tours" that have been spotted all over the DFW area buuuut...It's true, there is such a thing as a "bacon tour" and it's happening this weekend, on Saturday, August 31. Dallas by Chocolate's 2nd annual event celebrates International Bacon Day. The Bacon Tour is guided by local food writer and radio talk show host, Steven Doyle who operates craveDFW which was just voted as the best blog by D Magazine. (I love him too)
This guided tour is for Bacon Lovers of all ages. Tours usually have about 30 seats and you will be driven around the Dallas area via private bus to taste bacon in many forms.
Just a few of the highlights on the menu of opportunity that day include: tasting Bacon Bloody Mary's using Bacon Vodka with specially cured bacon, Sweet Corn Cupcakes with Bacon/Gouda Cheese Frosting, even a lil Bacon Chocolate from Sublime Chocolatier and don't even get me started on the bacon cupcakes! What an afternoon of fun & food. I'm bringing my happy face that day! Bacon Lover's Unite!!
Besides "pigging out" on bacon YOU actually get to learn how to make bacon from noted chef Mark Wooton of Garden Café?!?! Does it get any better? Well, of course because you eat more bacon after that.
